The Night People

September 15th, 2010

‘Peter after the Festival’ has been added to Pics of Peter in the galleries. (Here’s to the next time…)

The last upload of Peter at Genoa, here is his reading of The Night People, filmed by Franz Soprani.

It took the charming Max Marchini nearly two years to conjule Peter into finishing an interview which appeared in the May edition of the Italian magazine Rockerilla. Not the least because some of the questions required considerable thought and were quite difficult to answer briefly.

Max in his original Italian introduction generously compared Peter to some of his contemporaries such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Tim Buckley. However, what Peter finds more interesting and in some way agrees with is Max’s definition of his work and vision being in the tradition of the second generation of Romantic poets such as Byron, Keats, Shelley and William Blake. (Well, on a very good day . . . PjS )

10 Haiku

Another video from the Genoa Poetry Festival is now on the SSOS YouTube channel. We have edited out the, ahem, convoluted introduction as it was three times longer than the reading of the poems…

New video on YouTube channel

August 10th, 2010

Video of Peter and friends performing “Maybe So” on Spanish TV show Musical Express in 1982, has been added to SSOS YouTube channel.

Words and music written by Peter (using a Roland Jupiter 4 on ‘arpegiator’). The band that Peter assembled for the show included Tim Hinkley (keyboard/vocals), Gary Brooker (piano/vocals), Bobby Tench (guitar/vocals), Mel Collins (sax), Boz Burrell (bass/vocals) & Mike Giles (drums). This was the only time that Burrell & Giles ever appeared on the same stage . . .

Here is the third in the series of Genoa recordings by Franz Soprani, with Peter reading ‘Closer to Believing’. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to be notified of more videos coming soon.

New haiku

July 27th, 2010

Blocking the sunlight
The self-righteous sycamores
Unpleasant as gulls.

New haiku added to poems section.

Another clip from Peter’s reading at the Genoa Poetry Festival, a poem called ‘Don’t Hear of Much‘ written for the drummer Ian Wallace in 2002.

Sorry it’s taken a while, but here is the first of a series of clips taken from Franz Soprani’s filming of Peter reading at the Genoa Poetry Festival in June 2010. More to follow…

Peter has just returned from his first ever public reading, at Palazzo Ducale, for the Genoa Poetry Festival. He would like to thank Claudio Pozzani, Carla and Cristina, and the rest of the wonderful team for their kindness and craziness in allowing him to read (plus the surprises). He would also like to thank Max Marchini for his support and Franz Soprani for filming the event, part of which we will make available on the website for your delectation in the near future.
